Far better than any cup of coffee, an early morning photo shoot with these darling children was the perfect wake-me-up start to an absolutely beautiful day yesterday.

This super cute pair of sisters happen to be some of my very favorite people in the world. The eldest is best buds with my daughter, and though we don't see nearly as much of them as we'd like these days, we're enjoying every chance we get!

Then we headed out for some snow time before they fly back to the tropics!

Each and every newborn is a delight, but there is a particular joy in meeting and photographing the children of friends. It is funny to think that a kid I met 20 years ago is now proud papa of this little girl.

I've had fabulous luck with photoshoots working around the tumultuous weather here in MN, but the last one I tried to squeeze in was amidst serious rain showers, so we ended up doing indoors and on their front porch.

He is named for a poet, this sweet hand-stitched blanket has a Lullaby verse.

Today I dropped in on a friend rather out of the blue, since I am in town briefly. Barely 2 minutes in, she says she's got a great new photo location for me, so I said lets go, and we grabbed my camera, threw the kids in the car, and headed out.

Tell me, can she pick them, or what?!

Really, any location that lets two year olds run like this

is a treasure!

These kids are just the cutest, and had such a fun nature walk.

I love repeat clients. I love to see the children again, get to know them, watch them grow. Of course, if the previous session was only a week or two before, the growing is somewhat harder to perceive! I did a cousins session the other day for two families that I had first done individual shoots for one and two weeks before. Scroll down in the blog and you'll recognize the faces! Three just about three month olds and one brave six year old (plus an obliging dog) made for quite an exciting bunch!

This weekend I photographed three young families in one neighborhood. It was my third time for the first family, who have a new baby this summer, and the first for the other neighbors. All in all, a delightful street full of kids!

These family friends are visiting from France, and have been seeing all sides of this country, from a ranch in Montana to the shore of lake Superior, and we snuck in a photo shoot yesterday before they traveled on to New York this morning. Yesterday I had the pleasure of photographing these lovely girls and their adorable cousins, down at the Boom site in Stillwater, just about a mile from my parents' house, and easily my favorite photo shooting location ever. Kids get to run around there, play in the sand, climb on rocks, and the light is just magical. So here are a few sneak peeks, and I'll get the cousins' peeks up next!

Now, the mom prefers black and white, which I generally do also, so am happy to oblige. I told her I'd show some in color if I just couldn't help myself, because, well, look below!

This weekend I attended the wedding of a friend. I took photos purely as a guest, but this couple is just so beautiful and so obviously in love with each other, I couldn't resist sharing a few!

It is so good to be back in Minnesota. Garrison Keillor says it best: "Where the women are strong, the men are good looking, and all the children are above average."

Of course the women and children are good looking as well, as you can plainly see!

Yesterday I kicked off the first of many photo shoots back here in MN with this beautiful family.

This is the third summer in a row I've photographed these children, and they just keep getting cuter and more charming every year!

Minnesota Summertime

My summer plans are coming into focus. I'll be coming to Minnesota in August, with the following dates available for photo sessions.

Wednesday and Thursday, August 6-7
Monday, August 11 through Sunday the 17th.

Sessions will obviously be limited, so I will begin taking appointments now. A paid session fee guarantees your time. A traveling fee will be charged for any sessions further than 25 miles from Stillwater, MN. I'm happy to split this fee if doing multiple families in close proximity on the same day. You're also more than welcome to come up to Stillwater, I have a few favorite locations I'd happily share with you!

I will consider flying in to Minnesota for an additional weekend or two in July, if I need overflow session times. If there are three or four families in a neighborhood who want portrait sessions and can coordinate times, this would be an option.

Looking forward to seeing you and your beautiful children this summer!
